Elwood P. Dowd. was visited by a giant, white rabbit named Harvey a few years ago. His friendship with Harvey has caused his sister, Veta, and his niece, Myrtle Mae, many problems. When Veta goes to admit Elwood to Chumley’s Rest, a sanitarium in their town, the doctors make a mistake believing that Veta is the one is the who needs to be admitted.
