Same Changes: A Musical Revue tells the stories of individuals fearing change and the inevitable choices they have to make regarding their futures. What comes next? If I make the wrong choice will I lose them? Will I lose this opportunity? Will I lose myself and the person I’ve worked so hard to become? Through a contemporary lens featuring musical theatre favorites from Kerrigan & Lowdermilk and shows such as Hair and Jagged Little Pill, to the pop and rock stylings of Florence & The Machine and Lake Street Dive, Same Changes follows the ebbs and flows that come with the biggest transitions in our lives. Reflecting the fear of things needing to change when they’re already good, and the pressure to stay the same despite wanting to change and grow on your own. Though each cast member may be going through their own struggles, the core of their stories can be related to as they all question the same things and wonder what will happen to them as they begin to change.

Show dates are September 9-11th.

About OPF:

No experience? No problem! OPF is an opportunity for new and passionate writers to share their stories and create something original!

The Original Play Festival (OPF) is a festival comprised of multiple student-written one-act plays, directed and acted by students. The Original Play Festival is a tradition that celebrates new work and the importance of student theatre each year at Cabaret.

OPF will be rehearsed and presented virtually. Keep that in mind as you work to cultivate your piece.

Please note that due to University constraints, the Reading Committee is only accepting submissions from full-time or part-time Rutgers University-New Brunswick undergraduate students.

Finally, if you have any questions or concerns about the proposal process, please do not hesitate to reach out to the Original Play Festival Coordinator at sms745@scarletmail.rutgers.edu; please copy dunnsabrina618@gmail.com on all emails.
