Black Friday Comes Early with The 2018 Directors' Showcase

“Look you guys. I take this blog very seriously. I want to do my best to report on Cabaret’s shows with utmost accuracy, and really get to the heart of the shows. With Directors’ Showcase, I quickly learned, the heart of the show is the directors. And since I have no sense of direction (one time I got lost in the stacks of Alexander Library for 45 minutes), I realized that my usual undercover method of reporting wouldn’t work for this show. I had to try something else to find out what Directors’ Showcase is all about.”

“Is your dating life trash? Is your dating life great? Are you happy in your current romantic relationship? Are you unhappy in your current romantic relationship? Are the last two questions not applicable to you? Do you love your friends? Do your friends piss you off? Do you feel supported by the people in your life? Do you sometimes feel completely and utterly alone?”

“I love revues. I’ve been fortunate enough to be a part of four back-to-school revues during my time here at Rutgers, including this one. What I love about revues is that they’re often full of familiar songs, but pulled from different places, all to create one full production. Being in a revue, I get the chance to sing songs I might never get the chance to sing otherwise. Watching a revue, audiences can experiences songs they may or may not have heard before in a different light from how they were originally performed.”

"Award shows: a fundamental right of passage in the entertainment industry, whereby celebrities, who do not get enough recognition and worship as is, are gifted with golden statues for literally just doing their jobs well. Now, I understand that other professions give out awards and have ceremonies to celebrate the accomplishments of people in their field, but let’s get one thing straight: they don’t matter. The National Teacher of the Year Award, the AMA Excellence in Medicine Award, or National Society of Accountant’s Accountant of the Year Award—they’re all meaningless awards, for meaningless careers. The only ones who matter are entertainers and blog writers, amen."
