Production Staff Applications - Back-To-School-Revue

keep holdin on.jpg

Interested in being a part of a team to create a first ever virtual revue?! The Livingston Theatre Company and Cabaret Theatre are now accepting Production Staff Applications for “Keep Holding On”: A Musical Revue!

The COVID-19 pandemic has completely shattered our way of life. We do not know if, or when, we will ever be together again in the same capacity we were previously. And yet, though hope is frail, it’s hard to kill. Things will get better, and the emotional progression of Keep Holding On is a model for one’s ability to overcome obstacles and to get through unimaginable crises.

If you would like the chance to work with Michael Einiger in creating an incredible production, please fill out this form no later than Monday, August 3rd @11:59pm! We hope to see you apply!

Regarding the Fall 2020 Semester for Cabaret Theatre

cab logo space.png

As many of you may have seen by now, Rutgers University has released its plan for approaching education for the coming semester, specifically to have most instruction held virtually, with only select classes being held in-person. This also includes the continuation of their choice last year regarding the suspension of in-person campus events, which will continue into the Fall 2020 semester. We are, just as you may be, disappointed that we are not able to return to our normal schedule of activities, but we are understanding about the decision, as the health and safety of our community must take priority.

To begin, Cabaret Theatre will, without doubt, continue to produce theatrical works in the Fall 2020 semester. This will be a time for us to experiment with new and interesting formats of theatrical experiences, including virtual performances of Rutgers Night Live, Cafe Cabaret, and other theater festivals that are well loved at Cabaret Theatre, and perhaps venture into new territory. This time will also hopefully allow us to expand our community and introduce the world of Cabaret Theatre to a larger audience, and thus be able to reach out to and welcome many more newcomers.

We thank you for your continued patience with us as the University, and the world, change around us, and we continue to adjust and adapt. Please stay tuned for more updates as we solidify plans for the semester, and we hope that we will see you very soon!

According to the University :

Will there be any on-campus programs or events?

In an abundance of caution, there will be no in-person student gatherings, events, or programs held on campus until university guidelines stipulate that it is safe to do so.

Will any student life activities be available virtually?

A resounding yes! The Division of Student Affairs will provide an innovative array of virtual programs and experiences for students to remain connected and involved in a COVID-19 environment. This includes virtual recreation events and remote programs, events, and leadership development opportunities hosted by Student Centers and Activities and our 450+ student organizations.

Silence is not an option.

BLM CAB.jpg

Inspired by our friends at The Livingston Theatre Company and The College Avenue Players we want to use our platform as a way to spread awareness for the Black Lives Matter movement. Racism is unacceptable. Racism in the arts in unacceptable.

We mourn the lives of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, and all of the other black lives that were lost at the hands of police brutality.

We stand with those working to achieve equality. We stand with the Black Lives Matter Movement. We strongly encourage our community members to take action, donate, spread awareness, and speak up against injustice. Silence is not an option.

We have the privilege to use our platform to spread awareness. Below we have listed resources of organizations to donate to and ways to help:
