I can’t help but think that this past week will go down in American history forever. And attached to this permanent memory will be the image of me watching the news while simultaneously editing clips on my roommate’s iPad of my Cabaret friends talking about their OPF experience. I thought it was time for a vlog post over a blog post.
The Original Play Festival is Cabaret’s opportunity to bring in student-written pieces to be directed and put on by other students and is always something I look forward to each semester. This time around we’re calling it RetrOPF because this is the very same show that was supposed to be put on last spring before COVID-19 sent us all packing. We wanted to bring back these short plays because their stories are so heartwarming and entertaining that they simply needed their time in the spotlight. Despite facing the challenges of online theatre, these playwrights, directors and actors have overcome overwhelming odds and put on a great show.
So let me stop typing and just go ahead and click the link. After this long week I think we could all use a hearty dose of student theatre. So sit back relax and tune into OPF: Going Home this weekend!
