CALLING ALL DIRECTORS - APPLY TO DIRECT in Cabaret Theatre’s 2020 DIRECTOR’S SHOWCASE!
Directors’ Showcase at Cabaret is typically a collection of ten to fifteen-minute plays, usually directed by new directors. This Showcase gives first-time directors the opportunity to work on a short play from start to finish and get a feel for the directing process, as well as providing directors with some experience and a chance to work on and hone their craft. It is a great way to get involved at Cabaret and has proven a strong first step for many leaders at our company!
However, due to the virtual format of this year’s production, we are happy to announce that we are not only allowing you to propose ten to fifteen-minute plays, but we are also allowing directors to propose ANY form of scripted work. This may include, but is not limited to, ANY scene from a film, scene from a television show, scene from a full-length play, or any other artistic piece you feel could work in this newly adapted virtual showcase (musical pieces will not be accepted).
We are now accepting proposals! Attached is our Proposal Packet, which includes sources to find plays and scripts.
Proposals are due by October 16th, 2020 at 11:59 PM.
If you are interested in directing or have questions about the proposal process, email our Artistic Director, Samkit Siyal, at artistic.cabarettheatre@gmail.com and Directors’ Showcase Coordinator, Joshua Rosenzweig, at jvr48@scarletmail.rutgers.edu, as soon as possible to indicate that you are interested in proposing.
